As a Wilmington, NC newborn photographer, I often get asked by clients what are the best ages to photograph baby milestones. While babies grow and change so much in that first year of life and every milestone is special, these are the most popular milestones to capture!
Maternity Photos
While technically not a baby milestone, you are growing a tiny little life within! This is one of the most holy and amazing chapters in a woman’s life as life takes shape inside her. Pregnancy is sacred, it is beautiful, and it is a miracle. Every mama in waiting deserves this chapter of her story captured in a stunning way that savors the beauty and feeling during her journey of motherhood. I can’t tell you how many clients have came to me pregnant with their second baby who regretted not taking maternity portraits when they were pregnant with their first.
Newborn Photos
You just spent 9 months with this precious little life in your belly. The moment you have been dreaming of is finally here! All you want to do is soak up every last minute of the snuggles, the bonding, breastfeeding, and immense love you have for this little life you’ve created. Newborn photos are best taken within the first few weeks of life.
3 Month Milestone Photos
This is a sweet stage as your baby has really changed since their newborn session. They are now smiling, interacting, doing tummy time, and really observing their surroundings. This is the first session where your little one can really give some great eye contact with the camera which make for adorable images.
6 Month Milestone Photos
This is one of my absolute favorite milestones to capture! At this stage, their little personalities are really starting to shine through. They are so full of smiles and laughs, sitting up, and just so curious about the world around them. I absolutely adore this age!
1 Year Milestone Photos
This is a monumental milestone for sure! Your baby is typically starting to take steps or maybe even walking. Celebrating your baby’s first year is so special for both of you! You have been with your little love for 1 year and can’t imagine life any different. This is a priceless milestone that should definitely be captured!
