Over the years, I’ve picked up many tricks to help families feel relaxed and at ease in front of the camera. Following these tips will allow those real, unforced smiles and true personalities and connections to shine through in your pictures!
Get Them Pumped Up Beforehand
Building excitement early gets kids off to a good start. A few weeks out, start hyping up what a blast it will be. Reminisce over old photo albums together, giggling at those tiny faces from past sessions. This sparks their enthusiasm!
Make sure your kids get good night’s sleep and nap the day of the session if they are still taking naps. Well-rested kids with full bellies just before you arrive start us off on the right foot!
The Great Outdoors Does a Body Good
I always recommend an outdoor session for families if the weather cooperates. All that open space gives the little ones plenty of room to roam and play and get their wiggles out.
Not only that, but natural light and nature is extremely flattering and beautiful for portraits. The soft golden glows around sunrise and sunset are premium times for capturing that dreamy golden glow.

We will bring the silliness with games, songs, and imagination prompters to capture real, uncontrollable laughter and i also love capturing intimate and quiet moments- your child’s hand entwined in yours, your baby snuggling against your chest. I will lead you and your family into candid interactions in order to capture the love and connection you share as a family.
Breaks Keep Things Fresh
Even with all the energy and excitement, I know those short attention spans all too well! That’s why I build in break times to reset and recharge if needed.. Having a small, healthy, and mess-free snack provides a motivating “reset”.

I essentially have a boutique in my studio with a beautiful curated collection of dresses and wardrobe for babies and children. I even have several shirt options for dads. There is no need to stress about what you’ll wear! My professional hair and makeup team travels to you the day of the session making it a full pampering experience. The goal is for you to feel relaxed, confident, and totally present.
After our fun-filled shoot, the experience keeps going! We’ll have a design and ordering appointment where you can relive all those beautiful candid moments. Then comes the truly fun part – choosing how you’ll display these memories around your home through albums, framing, gallery walls and more. My design background ensures these heirloom pieces live beautifully in your home.
